We left Sydney around 6 30 am from Hornsby shire area towards Richmond. it was a peaceful drive, small chit chats. After a 2 hour drive we took a little diversion towards MT BANKS LOOKOUT just ahead of MT TOMAH for our

breakfast with a view.

It’s a beautiful spot to stop and relax with a cup of tea and some homemade sandwiches.

After the breakfast we took towards bell / chifley road to Lithgow.

Lithgow is a big town, again very pretty and historic. It’s a big junction for a lot of coaches.

From Lithgow take the great western highway / Castlereagh highway towards Bathurst. Another town famous for its V8 race. From Bathurst we took the Mitchell highway leading up to Lucknow. Lucknow was an eyecatcher - little village with a big history.

Went onto northern district road by passing orange onto Mitchell highway to Molong and we suggest as we did, ditch the Mitchell highway and take the Banjo Paterson way. This road becomes Obley road after Cumnock. It’s a hidden gem of a road with most amazing paddock art sculptures - we were lucky to see a few out of the series of 45 creative sculptures created by local people! The 120 kilometre self-drive tourist route of Paddock Art sculptures lies between Molong and the Dubbo Taronga Western Plains zoo, via Cumnock and Yeoval.

We continued on this road vis Yeoval, Obley, Toongi, Cumboogle, short of Toongi we took left Dilla Derry road towards Nyngan via Trangie.

We reached Nyngan at about 3 pm, checked ourselves into the outback motor inn on the Mitchell highway. Pleasant motel with decent rooms. They also have a swimming pool which was an additional benefit. As we were leaving the next day morning, we quickly freshened up and headed out.

One of the attractions in Nyngan is the BIG BOGAN , as Nyngan is part of the bogan shire it’s a typical statue of a bogan bloke that joins Australia's grand list of all things big - from a pineapple to a sheep. The Big Bogan stands with his mullet, stubbies, singlet and a Southern Cross tattoo! Pretty cool.

Had a bit of a walk around town, there's nothing much there apart from a museum and the Nyngan RSL. As it was evening and we were tad bit tired after the drive, Nyngan RSL was the best option. It’s a relaxed place for a few beers . We were lucky as we got free food ( someones shout that day like a farewell shout ). Stuffed ourselves up with cheese, dips, chicken nuggets, calamari. What an evening!

It was around 8 pm and the sun was still up. So we decided to hit the motels swimming pool. Next day would be a big one and we were ready for it!!!
